DVP 179 Lucifuge – Infernal Power LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated fourth album of Germany’s LUCIFUGE, Infernal Power, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

For the past five years, LUCIFUGE have been perfecting an addicting style of blackened speed metalpunk, all guided by the iron fist of mainman Equinox. Starting in 2018, the one-man wrecking crew released a demo, an EP, and the Ride the Beast debut album. The next year was no less busy, with two EPs and the second album Der AntiChrist. And just last year, the full-length The One Great Curse was released and then the digital single “Infernal Power.”

The latter single proved to be a teaser for LUCIFUGE’s fourth album, also titled Infernal Power. Going from strength to strength and now expanded to a full quartet, here does Equinox take his signature sound – greasy ‘n’ galloping riffs, locomotive rhythmic (dis)charge, and twisted ‘n’ pissed vocals – and spit-shine them with the dirtiest motor oil known to man. It’s all righteously party-hardy stuff, headbanging and boozy to the bitter end, but Infernal Power palatably exudes a startling professionalism usually elusive to those flying the metalpunk banner, no doubt a result of the lineup expansion. Likewise, the EVIL is ramped up here, cobwebs of haunting melodicism draped delicately across LUCIFUGE’s no-less-crazed attack. And perhaps most interestingly, Equinox covers GISM’s “As Good As It Is,” from that legendary Japanese band’s cult second album, M.A.N., an idiosyncratic blend of epic metal and noise. Which is all to underline the relatively unique ground LUCIFUGE are travelling with Infernal Power; names such as Inepsy, Blood Spit Nights, and Kriegshog are as easily evoked as those of Exciter, Razor, and English Dogs – and of course, the almighty Warfare and especially equally early Running Wild and Onslaught UK.

The full moon is night, and all the witches are about to dance…prepare to feel LUCIFUGE’s Infernal Power!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on golden vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

– CD edition with sticker.

DVP 233 Bunker 66 / Lucifuge – Of Night And Lust MLP/MCD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present Of Night and Lust, a special split mini-album between BUNKER 66 and Germany’s LUCIFUGE, on CD and 12” vinyl formats.

Both BUNKER 66 and LUCIFUGE should be familiar names to those versed in the dark deeds of DYING VICTIMS: Just earlier this year, BUNKER 66 released through the label a split 7” with fellow Italian filth-bangers HELLCRASH, as well as their long-awaited (and rightly celebrated) fourth album, Beyond the Help of Prayers, earlier in 2021; for their part, LUCIFUGE released their equally celebrated fourth album, Infernal Power, through DYING VICTIMS during the spring of 2021. Here on Of Night and Lust, both bands each deliver three exclusive songs, making for 24 minutes of ancient speed metal sleaze and metalpunk ghoulishness.

BUNKER 66 are up first and show no signs of slowing down, especially so after 15 years as a band now. “Mellhammer” and “Sulphurous Lust” are exemplary displays of their greasy speed-metal surge, and yet subtly exude an eerie aspect that perhaps point the way forward for future recordings. Capping their entry is a faithful cover of Motörhead’s “Doctor Rock,” which both underlines BUNKER 66’s roots as well as reverently paying respect to the fallen gods of Lemmy and Würzel. LUCIFUGE follow with an even-more-blackened iteration of their etched-in-stone metalpunk across the tracks “The Great Unseen” and “In Blood and Dust.” They conclude with a surprising-yet-storming anthem fittingly titled “Warriors of the Night.” While many metal anthems have been attempted under such a title, you’ve truly never heard one as invigorating as this – nor LUCIFUGE so bright and brassy!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on bone colored vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and two patch.
– MCD edition with sticker.

DVP 253 LUCIFUGE – Monoliths of Wrath LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated fifth album of Germany’s LUCIFUGE, Monoliths of Wrath, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since 2016, Germany’s have been steadily perfect an addicting style of blackened speed metalpunk, all guided by the iron fist of mainman Equinox. Come 2021’s fourth full-length Infernal Power, Equinox expanded LUCIFUGE to a full lineup, and it paid off in spades: the band’s first album under the banner of DYING VICTIMS capped this signature sound with power and applomb, exuding a new professionalism that somehow sounded dirtier than ever.

And as forecasted last year by their short ‘n’ sweet split with Italian comrades BUNKER 66, LUCIFUGE continue to spit-shine that sound with Monoliths of Wrath. Immediately upon pressing “play” on this fifth full-length, it becomes clear that Equinox and crew are taking their sound in a newer but no-less-parallel direction. Unapologetically more technical than their more idiomatic “metalpunk” past, LUCIFUGE’s latest LP is not lacking for speed – in fact, it’s FASTER – but this much-more-directly thrash-oriented record takes sonic cues from classic Sodom, Kreator, Exodus, and of course Slayer. Thankfully, we’re still entrenched in the ‘80s here, but more accurately 1987 rather than 1984. Likewise, the evil, blasphemic, and anti-religious themes are retained throughout the whole record, but Monoliths of Wrath sees LUCIFUGE integrating some almost-atmospheric black metal passages in between. So, while it definitely follows from the aforementioned full-length and split, Monoliths of Wrath involves much more complex song structures overall, which are given maximum power through the production: full-bodied and “pro” but hardly soft, LUCIFUGE’s first foray into a proper recording studio (rather than the practice room) makes a huge difference in highlighting their new dynamics and tempo variation. Oh, and did we mention the BREAKDOWNS? Seriously, this is a timewarp to ‘87, in the best possible way!

So, a blast from the past, but diffently: LUCIFUGE have truly nailed their own sound and direction with Monoliths of Wrath.
