Levellers

Meine absoluten Highlights waren: World Freak Show, The Boatman, Liberty, Hope Street, Carry Me und Beautiful Day.

Tränendrüsendrücker-Moment: Another Man's Cause - die Aktualität des Textes aus dem Jahr 1991 ist frappierend... Aber auch der Text von Beautiful Day ist dermaßen allgemeingültig (und brillant).

Another Man's Cause:
Gunshots shatter in the peace of night
Just another fire fight
For the people of this little town
But for the dying soldier
Well, he′s feeling ten years older
As he's lying face down on the ground
All the words that are in his head
And all the words his mother said
As she would put him to bed back home

Your daddy well, he died in the Falklands
Fighting for another man′s cause
And your brother, he was killed in the Last War
And your mother well, she's lying home alone

Every day she sees your face
On the picture on the fireplace
With your brother, as he was leaving school
Then a day came five years ago

You said, "Mother, I need to know"
And you spoke the words, your brother spoke before
"I seen the things my Daddy's done
And I′ve seen the medals Daddy′s won
And I know that this is what he would have wanted for me"

But, your daddy well, he died in the Falklands
Fighting for another man's cause
And your brother, he was killed in the Last War
And your mother well, she′s lying home alone

Now she wonders at it all
Just in whose name do these brave young heroes fall
And how many more are going to answer that call
They're going to fight and die in another country′s war
They're going die for a religion they don′t believe in at all
They're die in a place they should never have been at all
Oh, never have been at all

'Cause your daddy well, he died in the Falklands
Fighting for another man′s cause
And your brother, he was killed in the Last War
And your mother well, she′s lying home alone

And your daddy well, he died in the Falklands
Fighting for another man's cause
And your brother, he was killed in the Last War
And your mother well, she′s lying home alone

NEW ALBUM TOGETHER ALL THE WAY COMING MARCH 2023

Our new Levellers Collective acoustic album Together All The Way will be released in March and is available to pre-order now!
Album: Levellers Collective - Together All The Way
Release date: March 2023 (CD & Red Vinyl)
Pre-order from TMSTOR HERE
The last ‘Collective’ album was recorded at Abbey Road with the legendary John Leckie 5 years ago. We always planned to do more but how do you top that? Eventually we came to the conclusion to not try to top it but to go another way. We reconvened the collective - this time with Sean Lakeman producing and Al Scott mixing - at the Metway. We were joined again by Hannah and Ollie from the Moulettes on cello, vocals and percussion plus the mighty Dan Donnelly on his first official Levellers recording. Of the album and recording, Jeremy says “It’s a stripped back, raw iteration of the collective with deep folk leanings. As energetic as the first one but definitely different”.
Together All The Way is scheduled for release in March 2023 as we embark on an acoustic tour of theatres and venues around the country with special guests Moulettes (Duo), Wilswood Buoys and Jess Silk. Tickets for the Acoustic tour starting in Cheltenham on 27 February are on sale now
