Ich hole den Thread mal wieder aus der Versenkung. Wenn jemand von euch noch einen guten Einstieg sucht, kann ich die neue Compilation "Dust Of Time" (6-CD) sehr empfehlen. Da ist für jede Ära eine nette Zusammenstellung dabei.
Ansonsten kommt bald eine 3-CD mit BBC-Recordings "Dreamworkers of Time" und Dave Brock hat auch noch eine Space-Rock Compilation zusammengestellt die als "This was your Future" demnächst erscheinen wird.

Schade wieder ein Original ......habe ihn und Harvey Bainbridge mal bei einem Hawkwind Tribute Festival Anfang der 90 er in Hamburg getroffen,
kleine Veranstaltung - ich glaube auf dem Gelände vom Gaswerk - mit einigen EX Hawkwind Leuten. Kleine Bühne , ich Anfang 20 und Nik mit Saxophon und so einer Komischen Maske direkt vor uns auf einer Minni Bühne.......war schon klasse......Nach dem Auftritt sind die dann noch fröhlich unterwegs gewesen und haben sich unters Volk gemischt......

Neues Studio Album "The Future Never Waits" kommt am 28.04.23
Hawkwind have announced a brand-new studio album.
• ‘The Future Never Waits’ follows their critically acclaimed 2021 album ‘Somnia’ and 2022 double live album ‘We Are Looking In On You’.
• The band’s 35th studio album is an outstanding progression to their varied and celebrated catalogue.
Opening track ‘The Future Never Waits’ delivers a ten minute instrumental led space-age march, before progressing into the guitar-driven follow up ‘The End’, featuring Dave Brock’s trademark vocals and chugging machine gun riffs. Innovative additions to the Hawkwind canon such as ‘Aldous Huxley’ and ‘They Are So Easily Distracted’ introduce a gradual, almost lounge-like quality, with deliberate piano, audio samples and saxophones lamenting over a futuristic backdrop and roaming guitar solos. Other tracks like ‘Rama (The Prophecy)’ and ‘I’m Learning To Live Today’ sit tightly in the Hawkwind groove, providing old and new fans alike with the intense and concentrated fusion of musical styles they’ve come to expect and celebrate.
‘The Future Never Waits’ is presented by Hawkwind, (Dave Brock, Richard Chadwick, Magnus Martin, Doug MacKinnon and Tim “Thighpaulsandra” Lewis) on both CD and double vinyl and will be released to coincide with live shows in the spring and summer.

Ist ein wenig schwungvoller als die Songs vom letzten Album Somnia, das sich ja mit den Themen Träumen und Schlaf beschäftigt hat und ich ab und an wirklich beinahe eingedämmert bin.

Hawkwind sind für mich einer der geilsten Bands aus der Psychedelischen Ecke. Von der ersten Scheibe bis zur Warrior in the edge of time kannst du eigentlich alles hören, egal ob druff oder nüchtern.
Meine favoriten sind immer noch die search of space und natürlich die warriors on the edge of time mit dem unvergleichlichen Titel Assault and battery / the golden void. Ganz besonders der Golden Void Teil mit dem einsetzenden Mellotron hat es mir angetan.

@TheLastPallbearer schöne Worte, das kann ich ziemlich eins zu eins so unterschreiben! Warriors begleitet mich seit der Volksschule (Grundschule heißt das in Deutschland). Damals hatte mein Vater die auf Tape. Das Album hat mich also bereits als Kind in den Bann gezogen und ich liebe es immer noch.
Auf dem Foto sind übrigens Gong und nicht Hawkwind zu sehen. Aber es beschreibt eine gewisse Stimmung sehr gut, die durchaus auch zu Hawkwind passt.

Heute echt einen anstrengenden Tag gehabt, genug Stress für die nächsten Wochen und ich brauchte wirklich was um runterzukommen. Direkt mal die "Doremi Fasol Latido" angemacht. Und was soll ich sagen? Nach den ersten 20 Sekunden von Brainstorm ist die Welt einfach ein besserer Ort geworden.

Atomhenge, the home of Hawkwind’s back catalogue, is proud to announce the release of a deluxe 50th anniversary edition of HAWKWIND’s legendary live album SPACE RITUAL. Recorded on the band’s UK Tour of December 1972, which followed the release of the band’s recent studio album DOREMI FASOL LATIDO. The live show was a continuous performance linked by poetry recitation by ROBERT CALVERT and was a complete audio-visual experience. Featuring the dancers Stacia, Miss Renee and Tony Carrera, the concerts also featured an elaborate light show by famed lighting designer Liquid Len. The Space Ritual tour followed the huge success of the Silver Machine single (although the song did not feature in the live set) and three concerts were captured on tape by the Pye Records mobile unit. The resulting double album was adorned with memorable artwork by designer Barney Bubbles and was a Top Ten hit in the UK upon its release in May 1973. This 50th anniversary limited edition deluxe boxed set comprises 10 CDs and a Blu ray disc and features a new remaster of the original album, along with new mixes of all three complete concerts recorded on the tour at Liverpool Stadium, Sunderland Locarno and Brixton Sundown, all mixed by Stephen W Tayler. The set also includes a stunning 5.1 Surround Sound mix of the album, along with a new stereo mix of the album, including the complete unedited versions of Brainstorm and Time We Left This World Today and the encore of You Shouldn’t Do That.
