Be ready to celebrate the 5th edition of this fest as a ritual with us!

ESOTERIC

This one is a very special one. We’re so glad to announce mighty Esoteric from UK. The funeral Death/Doom matadors will headline the Deep Sound City Fest.
The band has been around since the early 90s and has directly contributed to the creation of the Funeral Doom genre without being confused with other bands.
From their 90s double albums 'Epistemological Despondency' and 'The Pernicious Enigma' to their most recent works 'The Maniacal Vale' and 'Paragon of Dissonance' and the most recent 'A Pyrrhic Existence', they have remained true to their versatility.
Since it's more than worth it to see this band at their only gig in Germany so far in 2023, we assume you won't miss it.

ALKERDEEL

Founded in 2005 and started as a black/sludge band, they show their complexity and have become an integral part of the current black and doom metal genre. The band inspires with energetic attitude and atmospheric-powerful performances that make the audience forget space and time.
Albums with names like Slonk, Lede, Morinde and De Speenzalvinge give an idea of how varied, versatile and individual this band is. Musically, the quartet impresses with gloomy riffs, breathtaking moments and dirty melodies. We are very much looking forward to the likeable guys from Alkerdeel and an another outstanding performance.

ISKANDR

In recent years, the Netherlands has become a small hot spot for some innovative and idiosyncratic Black Metal. The project ISKANDR can be mentioned here in the same breath as FLUISTERAARS, SOLAR TEMPLE, TURIA, NUSQUAMA and also URFAUST.
Mastermind O. and drummer M. manage to interweave modern elements of atmospheric black metal with dark, medieval sound spectra without relying on bagpipes and shawms. So they already managed to create unique moods on the previous albums. Instead of aggression, they rely on introspection. They try to let the songs tell their own stories. Obscure heathen music from the catacombs of Nijmegen. Dark medieval atmospheres, melancholic longing and regal triumph.

PREDATORY VOID

"*(struggling..)", "Grovel", "Endless Return to the kingdom of Sleep".
These are 3 song titles from the album to be released on 21 April.
"Seven Keys to the Discomfort of Being" by Predatory Void.
We are proud to welcome this band to our line up.
The band members are no strangers either and were or are still with great bands like Oathbreaker, Cross Bringer, Carnation or Amenra.
The band manages to develop a completely unique style, not only through Lina's varied vocals, but also through the musical diversity of all the bands.
Predatory Void stands as a completely independent band with their very different songs.
Pure emotion from beginning to end.

PEACE VAULTS

From the gutters of austria strikes a filthy force named PEACE VAULTS.
Expect no more than raw black/punk mixed with lo-fi synths and haunting vocals.
They released 2 demos so far which are highly recommended.
So drift with us in a swirl of kaleidoscopic madness and let the fever dream begin.

DOMKRAFT

Organic. Electric. Hypnotic. Loud. This is Domkraft.
The swedish doom/sludge/psych trio is one of these wonderfully massive and ground-razing bands. They are at the forefront of the New Wave of Swedish Doom Metal alongside Monolord. In addition to a consciousness-expanding soundscape with the help of majestic riffs, they pile up layer upon layer of crushing rage. Majestic, devastating, reductive and thunderous, they merges the darkest influences - an absolute must for fans of glowing melodic doom.

RUMOURS

"The Lower We Sink - The Less We Care!"
Cynical, melancholic, nihilistic, direct - these are some of the terms that buzz through your head when you put the musical products of the Leipzig sextet on your record player. After one excellent EP (2020), the guys followed it up with an album last year that is once again convincing without squeezing into existing genre frameworks. Guitar-driven heavy rock with a slight 60s/70s flair and a certain punk attitude, catchy vocals dripping with cynical lyrics without falling into clichés - we are happy to present one of the most promising local bands of the last few years on our stage.

GRIN

"Shrouded in a haze of hyper amplified bass drones and layers of sepulchral voices, heavy psych-doom outfit GRIN continue to unravel the thread of their psychedlic mythology with a brief exercise in absurd heaviness and DIY ethics.
Consisting of six short compositions, Black Nothingness eschews the duo’s characteristic use of guitar embellishments, instead relying solely on the driving force of their recognisable drum and bass sound. Returning to the essence of their sound, GRIN uncover the source of the ecstatic quality of their music, while inviting you to partake in another bedazzling odyssey through the astral plane and beyond." - R. Westerveld
'Black Nothingness'

BAERUS

From the deepest abyss, Baerus from Osnabrück will join the 5th edition of the Deep Sound City Fest. The band is a 3-piece blackened sludge monster. The people behind Baerus are not unknown. They are involved in bands like Spit Acid, Prehistoric War Cult, Dungeon Keeper, Forsaken Tomb, Misery Vortex.
The songs are influenced by atmospheric black metal and swallow you into lowest chasms.
2020 saw the release of their self titled debut album via Kellerassel Records. New songs are already in the making at the headquarter of Osnabrück.
Watch out.

WITCHTHROAT SERPENT

Groovy and rousing Toulouse Doom Metal haunts our gates.
The charming quartet completes our festival line-up with cursing melodies and reverberating vocals.
For fans of Electric Wizard and Windhand this band is irreplaceable and should not be missed. They also bring their own distinctive and exclusive charm that reeks of psychedelics for more than a decade. Be ready for "Trove of Oddities at the Devil's Driveway" and other doomy sessions.

ARTWORK: SALOWE VISION

So, genug Altmännerjaulen, Tag 1.
