Aus Hollywood ereilen uns wieder einmal schlechte Nachrichten: Der Schauspieler Michael Massee ist aus bisher ungeklärten Gründen im Alter von 61 Jahren verstorben.
Wie sein französischer Schauspielkollege von „Interventions“, Anthony Delon, mitteilt, ist Michael Massee am 26. Oktober verstorben. Die Gründe sind noch nicht geklärt.
Massee, dessen Namen tragischerweise immer mit dem Unfalltod von Schauspieler Brandon Lee von The Crow in Verbindung gebracht wurde, hinterlässt seine Ehefrau Ellen Massee und ihre beiden Kinder.
Am Anfang seiner Schauspielkarriere ergatterte Massee die Rolle des Funboy in The Crow (1994). Doch am Set kam es zu einem tragischen Unfall als Platzpatronen mit richtigen Patronen verwechselt wurden und Massee der Titelfigur in den Bauch schoss. Lee erlag später seiner Verletzung.
Massees ganzes Leben wurde von diesem verhängnisvollen Unfall gezeichnet. 2005 erzählte er in einem Interview, dass er immer noch Alpträume von der Tat habe. Den vollendeten Film schaute er sich nie an und legte erst einmal eine Pause ein. 1995 kehrte er dann in dem Film „Tales of the Hood“ zurück und spielte auch in Filmen wie „Sieben“ (1995), David Lynchs „Lost Highway“ (1997), David Finchers „The Game“ (1997), Spielbergs „Amistad“ (1997) und zuletzt als Gustav Fiers (The Gentleman) in „The Amazing Spiderman 2“ (2012).
Doch auch Serienfans dürfte Massee bekannt sein. So spielte er größere Rollen in „Rizzoli & Isles“, „FlashForward“, „Carnivàle“, „24“ und „Revelations“ und besuchte auch unter anderem die Sets von „Alias“, „Supernatural“, „Cold Case“, „CSI: New York“, „House“ und „Law & Order: Special Victims Unit“. Zuletzt war er 2015 als Karakut in „The Blacklist“ zu sehen.

It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.
We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.
A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief.

I'm shaking as I write this.
I was just on NPR radio, giving the most moronic answers to questions I've ever given anyone about Leonard Cohen, because I didn't want to talk. It's still sinking in. My brain is numb. In this year of losses, so many losses, in this black week for the world, this tops them all.
I'm writing this with constant interruptions, calls and texts from radio and newspapers wanting to know this and that. Everyone wants details, how and where and why he died. Well he went out in a blaze of glory. Died with his boots on - or his suit on - having delivered a masterpiece before he left, "You Want It Darker" is one of his richest, deepest and most beautiful albums in a lifetime of rich, deep and beautiful work.
He sang himself back home in that album, to Montreal where they held the memorial today. When at the age of 15 Leonard first encountered the poetry of Lorca he heard the music of the synagogue his ancestors founded.
So many stories about musicians and poets have an unhappy ending but not Leonard, he was ready, and he didn't linger once his work was done. He knew darkness, looked right into its eyes, could even see the funny side.
"This world is full of conflicts and things that cannot be reconciled but there are moments", he said, "when we can embrace the whole mess."
God, I am going to miss this man.
Everything.
The whole mess.
I'm so very grateful to have known him, to have had his support and friendship.
So grateful to have his words and music to go back to again and again.
Hey that's no way to say goodbye, but it's the best I can do for now.

Wieder einer der Großen weniger, sein letztes Album (wo ich immer noch auf das Vinyl warte) war meiner Meinung nach auch sein dunkelstes, irgendwie passend.
